Call for Entry: Drawn to Create

Deep Valley Arts invites artists to submit their work for “Drawn to Create,” a juried group exhibition at MEDIUM Art Gallery celebrating the expressive power of drawing media. This show will spotlight artistic works made with graphite, charcoal, pastel, oil pastel, conte crayons, ink, and marker, honoring the raw immediacy and intimacy of mark-making across traditional and experimental approaches.

Artists are encouraged to submit pieces that showcase the full range of what these mediums can achieve—from refined realism to gestural abstraction, quick sketches to fully developed compositions. This exhibition welcomes a variety of styles and subject matter, with an emphasis on the creative process and the unique voice that emerges when artists are drawn to create.

Pieces chosen for in-person display at MEDIUM Art Gallery in Ukiah can be listed for sale with no commission fee.

There is no entry fee and a limit of three entries per artist. All media is welcome.
Work must be framed or mounted and hang-ready.*
The entry deadline is Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 11:59 PM PDT.
Opening reception: Friday, May 2nd, 2025, 5:00-8:00 PM PDT.
The show runs through Saturday, May 31st, 2025.

*Work should be framed or mounted with appropriate hardware for hanging or ready to display on a pedestal. For questions about getting work “hang-ready,” email us at info@deepvalleyarts.org.

Optional Donation: Upon the sale of my artwork, I would like to donate a portion of my sales to the Deep Valley Arts Collective, a Mendocino County-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Agreements

Permission to Exhibit: The Deep Valley Arts Collective and MEDIUM Art Gallery have permission to display accepted artworks at MEDIUM Art Gallery.

Permission to represent: If accepted into the exhibition, Deep Valley Arts Collective and MEDIUM Art Gallery may post artworks with full credit to the artist on their website as well as their Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook feeds.

I give permission to represent my work:

Artwork Delivery and Pick-Up: If accepted into the group exhibition, artworks must be delivered to MEDIUM Art Gallery at 518 E Perkins Street in Ukiah during gallery hours or by appointment. Artworks must be picked up after the show ends (except in case of sale) during regular gallery hours or by appointment. I accept that I will be able to drop off and pick up the work during these time frames or that I will contact the Deep Valley Arts Collective for alternative arrangements. Artwork not picked up within 30 days of the show closing will be considered an in-kind donation to the Deep Valley Arts Collective.

I agree to deliver and pick up my artwork on the specified dates:

Shipping of artwork: I understand that if I cannot deliver my artwork in person, I will be responsible for any shipping costs to exhibit my artwork (both to and from) at MEDIUM Art Gallery.

Condition and Installation: Artworks must be delivered in reasonably good, clean condition. Flat works must be equipped with an appropriate hanging apparatus and ready to install. We may reach out to discuss installation for accepted artworks. You may be asked to facilitate installation depending on the size and medium of the work(s). We may be able to assist with installation readiness with advance notice, including but not limited to provision of pedestals.
