“Teach, Restore, Paint” Works by Adele Pruitt

  • MEDIUM Art Gallery 522 East Perkins Street Ukiah, CA, 95482 United States (map)

Medium Gallery is honored to announce the exhibition of local artist Adele Pruitt, opening on Friday, January 7th.

At 99 years young, Adele’s first work as a paid artist began at the age of five, painting ceramics to help her struggling family. From there, she went on to become a multi-media artist, using encaustic, starch, oil paints and watercolor to create hundreds of paintings over the period of her life. Additionally, Adele owned and operated the Renaissance Gallery in Ukiah for decades, providing the community with one of the only storefronts for custom framing and art restoration. She has been an instructor in painting, life-drawing, Old World techniques and art restoration for about a half-century, following a career as a public-school teacher. She currently continues to teach and paint at her studio, Pruitt’s Fine Art Restoration, located in Ukiah.

Arguably one of Adele’s most comprehensive exhibits, Medium is featuring a variety of her work including abstracts, landscapes and portraiture. We will also display a special section of works demonstrating Adele’s immense facility as an art restorer.

The exhibit will run until January 30th. Adele will be on hand to greet visitors at January’s First Friday event, from 5:00-8:00.
